As…

(3) You will grow wiser as you grow older.

(3) As rain has fallen, the air is cooler.

(2) Strange as it may seem, nobody was injured in the accident.

(1) She is late, as is often the case.

Every cuisine in this world has started as an Indigenous one. There are many examples of the Indigenous foods that travelled to other continents to become ethnic food and finally found their place into universal cuisines. The movement of potatoes, corn and chillies from Latin America to Europe, Chinese fowl’s movement to South Americas in the ships of Chinese explorers (Menzies, 2003) are a few examples. Incidentally, potatoes were used as ornamental plants for their flowers and the tuber was forbidden to be eaten as it was supposed to cause leprosy. The same plant was the reason for mass migration of Irish to the US when its crop failed in 19th century. For a long time, Australian natives lived an undisturbed existence as the predominant cultures of the world did not discover it till quite recently. The Indigenous cuisine of Australia is at the culinary evolution stage what Latin America was till it was discovered by Spanish a few centuries ago. The occupiers of the continent kept well away from the native culture and it is in the Australian history that the initial settlers almost starved as they were not used to local conditions and who tried to cultivate European crops on this land. It is expected that as with other example, with time, the Australian native ingredients will find their way into pantries, lose the ‘exotic’ label and be recognised as normal part of recipes.
